The Negro River is located on the east side of Colombia connecting to the amazon river in Brazil. The source of the Negro River is the Orinoco River and the mouth of the river connects to the Amazin River with a length of 3,977 miles. The Negro River is one of the longest rivers and Colombia with a length of 1,398 miles. The Negro River is special for many reasons one being its one of the largest in Colombia. It is also special because of its color. The name of the river in English is the Black River. This name was given to it because of the color of the river. The river has a brown murky color to it, this is because of the minerals it is made up of. The Negro River also is the longest black river in the world. The river is a black river and black rivers do not mix with other rivers, so when looking at the merging point of the amazon river and the Negro River the river does not mix and the color difference is extremely noticeable. This is called a river confluence which is extremely rare as there are only 5 occurrences of this happening worldwide.
